RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
Being a part of the solution in the wind turbine industry is a business opportunity for Skykon, but it is also an obligation to contribute to respect of the environment. We have a strong focus on becoming CO²-neutral within a clearly defined time frame.
As a part of that ambition, we have our own wind turbines that have been erected on our premises. Furthermore, we also practice an efficient waste sorting system and generally ensure that our activities produce a minimum of waste.
We only use waste reception stations that are qualified to dispose of the specific types of refuse in question. At the same time, we regularly check to make sure that all the waste collection companies we work with abide by the applicable legislation.
Innovation for the Future
Looking towards the future, Skykon also participates in the innovation processes leading to the necessary development of the materials currently used for manufacturing of product solutions for the wind turbine industry.
As a result, Skykon has contributed to the design and creation of a three-metre high sculpture built from renewable biological materials like cork, flax fibers, corn starch and soya beans. Uniting these materials has brought about a completely new bio composite material.
This material will now be subject to further testing to the benefit of the development of the composites segment in the aim of learning how to replace traditional synthetic materials with biological materials. In 2010, the project has won the prestigious JEC Innovation Award which is the most important international award within the composites industry.
To Skykon it is of crucial importance to continue to look for innovation in materials, production processes and logistical services in order to make sustainable solutions that are beneficial to the environment and which allows for us to pass on a healthy planet to future generations.
